The most common question we get isn't about a specific service — it's "how does this actually work?" Here's exactly what to send us, what happens after, and what shapes the price, so you know what to expect before you reach out.
What to Send Us
The faster we understand your project, the faster you get an accurate quote. Useful things to include:
- A description of what you need — even rough is fine. What is it, what does it need to do, where will it live?
- Photos — if you're replacing or reverse engineering an existing part, photos from a few angles help us scope the job before you send the physical piece
- Dimensions, if you have them — not required, but helpful if precision matters
- Reference files — an existing 3D model, a sketch, or even a similar product you found online
- Quantity — one-off, small batch, or ongoing production all change the approach
- Timeline — if you have a hard deadline, tell us upfront
You don't need all of this to get started — a rough description is enough for us to ask the right follow-up questions.
What Happens After You Reach Out
- We review what you sent and figure out which process fits — 3D printing, laser cutting, UV printing, reverse engineering, or some combination.
- We ask clarifying questions if anything's missing — material preference, finish, how the part will be used.
- We quote the project based on material, print/cut time, design work required, and finishing.
- Once approved, we get to work — design if needed, then manufacturing, then finishing.
- You get updates and final photos before the piece ships or is ready for pickup.
What Affects the Price
- Material — standard PLA costs less than engineering filaments like nylon or carbon-fiber blends. See our material guide for the full lineup.
- Size and print/cut time — bigger and more complex parts take longer to produce.
- Design work — a part we design from scratch or reverse engineer from a scan takes more time than printing a file you already have.
- Finishing — raw off the printer costs less than sanded, primed, painted, and UV-printed.
- Quantity — batches are usually more efficient per unit than true one-offs.
